Many Melbourne business owners aren’t aware that an average of 50% of their businesses out-goings are related to employing staff and in a service based business this figure can be even higher.
With that in mind, how many Melbourne business owners spend the appropriate amount of time and resources on Team Building? In my experience, the answer is very few.
You may feel that Team Building is an unnecessary expense or a luxury that your business can not afford. But the fact is, by not having an effective Team Building program in place your staff are left to “make it up as they go along” and the result of this is often not an atmosphere and culture that promotes harmony and growth in your business.
In a worst case scenario, this approach can often create a destructive and negative culture, with factions forming amongst team members and staff working against each other in an effort to “score points” and make each other look bad.
Now you really do have problems! 50% of your overhead is now being spent on something that hinders your business as oppose to helping it!
As I said before, this is a worst case scenario, but situations like those mentioned above can and do occur in businesses all across Melbourne, Australia and the entire world.
The answer to that question is for you, the business owner, to develop a culture and atmosphere that reflects the positive and mutual beneficial relationships that reflect your business. Then it’s just a matter of getting your team “on board”. Those who actively want to participate can come along for the ride and those who don’t… well don’t! It’s really as simple as that.
My name is Brett Burden and I am Melbourne Team Building Coach and Business Coach, I have over 20 years experience in running businesses and helping Melbourne business owners, just like you, to get the most out of their business and their team. (See early video here).
You may wonder why more business owners do not encourage and develop team building programs? Over the years I have heard a vast array of answer to that question from; “I pay them enough so surely they can work it out themselves” to one of the most common reasons “I wouldn’t know where to start”.
Not knowing where to start is a problem faced by many Melbourne business owners today, but by identifying that you need a great team around you, in order to help your business grow and flourish, you have taken the first step to achieving exactly that.
The next step is to bring in someone who has the necessary skills and experience to bring your Team Building program to life. I have been developing Team Building programs for Melbourne business owners all of my adult life, so I’m positive I can help.
Team Building is amazingly effective and inexpensive, especially when you consider the potential implications of not doing it!
